Located along the South Shore of Nassau County, the town of Hempstead is home to 22 villages and 37 hamlets. It’s easily the largest town on Long Island and is, in fact, the largest township in the entire United States!
Quiet avenues and tree-lined streets provide terrific curb appeal to the Town’s beautifully landscaped residential properties. And while there are many affluent and diverse communities to choose from, most residents will agree that a majority of Hempstead’s neighborhoods offer a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
The Town’s highly-regarded municipal park system is spread across nearly 1,400 acres of land and marinas. It offers residents and visitors plenty of outdoor recreations to enjoy, including running, hiking and biking trails, as well as fishing locations, swimming pools and golf courses. Noteworthy parks include Jones Beach, Hempstead Lake and Belmont Park, home to the world-renowned Belmont Park Race Track.
The Town of Hempstead also features dozens of museums and historical sites, as well as several professional sports teams to root for, performance arts centers to visit, and dozens of award-winning restaurants to enjoy. There’s great shopping here, too, with Roosevelt Field Mall, the Mall at the Source, and several boutique shops to go and explore.
The LIRR’s Far Rockaway Branch makes commuting in-and-out of NYC quick and easy. And with approximately 2,600 miles of roadways, using your car to get to and from the Town by way of Long Island’s parkways and highways is a breeze.
